I have a very easy crochet pattern for you which is a mandala pattern. I am using this as a coaster at present. However it can be an awesome wall-hanging mandala too.

Abbreviation

  1. sc – single crochet
  2. sl st – slip stitch
  3. dc- double crochet
  4. ch – chain
  5. sts- stitches

Materials Needed

  1. 4 ply acrylic yarn (your choice of colours)
  2. 3 mm crochet hook
  3. Tapestry needle for weaving ends
  4. stitch markers

skill level- very easy

PATTERN (how to crochet the coaster)

1) Take the yarn and then make a magic circle. (here is the video link for doing a magic circle)

2) Do a ch2 (But don’t consider this to be any stitch). Then do 12 dc sts in the magic Circle. Then, Sl st in the 1st dc st of this round. Ch 1 and finally cut the yarn (12 dc sts)

3) Do a color change–> take the yarn, make a sl knot and then, insert the hook in it.

4) Sl st in any st of the last round and ch2 (but don’t consider this to be any stitch). Then do 2 dc in the same st followed by a ch 1. ( Then do 2dc in the next st followed by ch1)—-> repeat this pattern in this round. Sl st in the 1st dc st of this round in order to complete this round. Then at the end, do Ch 1 and cut the yarn (24 dc sts)

5) Do a color change and sl st in any ch1 sp of the last round and ch2 (do not count this as any stitch). Then do 3 dc in the same ch 1 sp followed by a ch 1. ( then do 3dc in the next ch1 sp followed by ch1 )—-> repeat this pattern in this round. Sl st in the 1st dc st of this round. Ch 1 and then cut the yarn (36 dc sts)

6) Do a color change and sl st in any ch1 sp of the last round and ch2 ( but do not count this as any st). Then do 3 dc in the same ch 1 sp followed by a ch 2. ( then do 3dc in the next ch1 sp followed by ch2 )—-> repeat this pattern in this round. Sl st in the 1st dc st of this round. Finally, Ch 1 and cut the yarn (36 dc sts)

7) Do a color change and sl st in any “2nd dc st of the 3 dc sts set” of the last round, followed by ch1 and then do a sc st. Then do 4 dc in the adjacent ch 2 sp. {Again do 1sc st in the “2nd dc st of the set of following 3dc sts” of last round. Then 4dc in the next ch2 sp.}—-> repeat this pattern in this round. Sl st in the 1st sc st of this round. Then do Ch 1 and cut the yarn (48dc sts and 12 sc sts)

Weave in all the lose ends in order to make the craft neat and clean.
