You can sell any product made from this patternowever, you may not distribute this pattern as your own in any way!
Materials You’ll Need:
- Yarn: Two colors (one for the heart and one for the background)
- Color A: Background color
- Color B: Heart color
You can use any yarn however I have used 4 ply acrylic yarns.
- Hook: I am using size 3 mm crochet hook (or a suitable hook for your yarn).
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations:
- ch: Chain
- sc: Single crochet
- st(s): Stitch(es)
Pattern For The Crochet Bookmark ( Written & Graph)
- Foundation Chain: Use Pink Colour. Firstly do ch 12. This will give you a base for 11 sc sts (you will skip the first ch).
- Row 1: Starting in the second ch from the hook, sc across. You should have 11 sts. Then ch 1 and turn.
- Rows 2-33: Follow the graph pattern provided below. Work in single crochet sts, using one sc for each square on the graph. Make sure to change colours based on the graph. Each square represents one sc st. Make sure to ch 1 at the end of each row and then turn your work.
- Finishing: Once you’ve completed the heart design, fasten off your yarn and weave in the ends.

How To Do The Colour Changing in this EASY Crochet Pattern
Taking the example of round 3:
Begin by crocheting the first three stitches in Color A as indicated by the graph. When you reach the fourth stitch, insert your hook there and draw the Color A yarn through it. You have two loops in the hook. To change colors, drop Color A and pick up Color B and pull the yarn through both the loops of colour A. Continue working with Color B for the heart stitches in the next 3 stitches, switching back to Color A (at the end of the 3rd stitch of Color B) as needed by the graph.
Tips for Changing Colors:
- Always switch colors on the last yarn-over of the previous stitch to keep the color transitions smooth.
- Hold the yarn you’re not using along the row and then do the stitch over it to avoid having loose ends dangling at the back.
- Tension: Keep a consistent tension on the yarn you’re not using to prevent puckering.
- Practice: If you’re new to color changes, practice switching colors before starting the full project to get a feel for the process.

Tips to Crochet from a Graph:
- Counting Rows and Stitches: Keep track of the rows and stitches on the graph in order to ensure accuracy.
- Changing Colors: If you’d like to add more definition to the heart, you can also switch colors to highlight the heart shape.
- Blocking: Once your bookmark is complete, consider blocking it to flatten the stitches and give your bookmark a neat finish.
Conclusion:
Now that you’ve completed your crochet heart bookmark, you’ve made a lovely and functional handmade piece! Whether you’re using it for yourself or gifting it, this bookmark adds a charming touch to any book. Try experimenting with different colors in order to personalize each heart bookmark for your friends or family.
