Written Pattern For The Crochet Lavender Flower
Flower Pattern
Start by chaining 60. Then in the 4th chain from the hook, make 5 double crochets. Next, *in the following chain, work 1 single crochet, then chain 6 and slip stitch into the top of the single crochet stitch (this creates a chain 6 picot).* Continue repeating from ** until you reach the end. Once you’re done, chain 1 and fasten off.
Leaf Pattern
*Chain 10. Then beginning from the 2nd chain from the hook, work (slip stitch, single crochet, single crochet, half double crochet, half double crochet, half double crochet, single crochet, single crochet, slip stitch).* Repeat from ** three to four times, or as many times as you’d like. However, I made three leaves for this pattern.
Assembling the Flower
For the assembly, take a grill stick or any sturdy stick and then wrap it with green yarn using a hot glue gun to secure it. After that, follow along with my video tutorial (YouTube live class) where I demonstrate how to easily wrap the flower around the stick using hot glue. Finally, attach the leaves to the stem with hot glue, and your beautiful lavender flower is ready!
Suggestions and Tips
- Maintain Tight Stitches
Ensure your stitches are tight and even for well-defined petals. Loose stitches can make the flower look floppy, so consider using a smaller hook if needed to improve tension. - Experiment with Yarn Types
While cotton is ideal, feel free to experiment with different yarn types to achieve varying textures and styles for your lavender flower. - Adjust Leaf Size
You can easily customize the size of your leaves simply by increasing or decreasing the number of chains. Crocheting multiple leaves and arranging them around the stem gives the flower a fuller, more complete appearance. Or you can also keep it simple as I did. - Evenly Space Flower Spirals
When wrapping the flower around the stick, ensure the spirals are evenly spaced for a uniform look. However, don’t worry too much about perfection—small imperfections add charm. - Experiment with Hook Sizes
If you find your stitches too loose or too tight, try experimenting with different hook sizes in order to get a better control over the final structure of the petals and leaves.
Conclusion
By following these suggestions and tips, you’ll be able to create a beautiful lavender flower in no time. Crocheting this flower is a quick and a very satisfying project, hence perfect for beginners and seasoned crocheters alike. Whether you plan to use it as a decorative piece or as part of a larger craft, this lavender crochet flower is sure to impress.
