Special Stitch

Cluster Stitch Pattern (Cluster of 3 Triple Crochet):

To work a cluster stitch (using 3 triple crochet), follow these steps:

  1. Yarn over twice (as you would for a regular triple crochet).
  2. Then insert the hook into the designated stitch or space.
  3. Yarn over and pull through the stitch (you should now have 4 loops on the hook).
  4. Then yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook (you should now have 3 loops on the hook).
  5. Yarn over and pull through the next two loops (you should now have 2 loops on the hook).
  6. Repeat steps 1–5 two more times, until there are 4 loops left on your hook (one loop from each partial triple crochet).
  7. Finally yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on the hook.

This completes the cluster of 3 triple crochets worked together into one stitch or space.

Written Pattern For the Crochet Daisy Granny Square

Round 1 (Yellow Yarn):

Make a magic ring (mr). Ch 2 (does not count as a stitch), then work 12 dc into the magic ring. Sl st into the first dc. Finally do ch 1, and fasten off the yarn.

Round 2 (White Yarn):

Join the white yarn with a sl st in any stitch. Ch 3 (counts as the first tc of a cluster), then work two more tc into the same stitch to complete a cluster stitch of three tc. Ch 3. In the next stitch, work another cluster stitch of three tc, followed by ch 3. Repeat this pattern in each stitch around. After the final ch 3, sl st into the first cluster st, ch 1, and then fasten off the yarn.

Round 3 (Different Yarn):

Join the yarn with a sl st into any ch-3 space. Then ch 2 (does not count as a stitch). Work 3 dc in the same ch-3 space, followed by ch 1. Then in the next ch-3 space, work 3 dc + ch 1. This completes the first side of the square.

In the next ch-3 space, work 3 tc + ch 2 + 3 tc + ch 1 to form the first corner.
In each of the next two ch-3 spaces, work 3 dc + ch 1 in order to complete the second side.

In the next ch-3 space, work 3 tc + ch 2 + 3 tc + ch 1 for the second corner.
Continue this pattern for the remaining sides and corners. After the last corner, sl st into the first dc of the round.

Round 4 (Optional for a Larger Square):

Ch 2 (does not count as a stitch). Then work 1 dc into the same stitch. Work 1 dc into each stitch and also 1 dc into each ch-1 space. When you reach the tc stitches at the corners, work 1 dc into each tc. In the ch-2 space at the corners, work 3 dc + ch 2 + 3 dc. Then continue this pattern for all sides and corners. After completing the round, sl st into the first dc, ch 1, and finally fasten off the yarn.
