In this written pattern, we’ll delve into the creation of the solid heart granny square, which also stands out as a symbol of affection and warmth. Moreover, its intricate design and heartfelt motif make it perfect for creating blankets, pillows, or even standalone decorations. Materials & Tools

Before we dive into the pattern, let’s gather the materials you’ll need:

  • You can use any yarn of your choice. However, I have used embroidery floss (two colors: one for the background and one for the heart).
  • Crochet hook appropriate for your yarn weight (typically recommended hook size for your yarn). But for my work I have used 1.75 mm size hook.
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Abbreviation used in the Written Pattern

  • mr- magic ring
  • ch- chain
  • dc- double crochet
  • st- stitch
  • sl st- slip stitch
  • sp- space

Written Pattern for the Solid Heart Granny Square

  • The pattern is same as that of the Solid Granny Square pattern !!!!
  • I’ve included a crochet chart at the end of the written pattern and images for each round to facilitate understanding. Furthermore, let’s proceed by incorporating color changes where necessary.
  • You just need to know how to execute color changes. To further assist you, you can refer to the accompanying video for a clear understanding.
  • I’ve provided visual cues by denoting the stitches for the heart portion in red text color. Additionally, those for the background are marked in simple black text.

Let us begin with the written pattern!

  • Firstly, do a magic ring or mr.
  • 1st round– Do a Ch2 (do not consider this as a stitch). In the mr do as follows- 3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2. Finally, Join with a sl st to the top of first dc.
  • 2nd round– Do a Ch2 (do not consider this as a stitch).

1st side, on each of the 3 sts of last round- 1dc, 1dc, 1dc.

In the 1st corner, do- 2dc ch2, 2dc.

2nd side, on each of the next 3 sts of last round- 1dc, 1dc, 1dc.

Then, 2nd corner,2dc ch2, 2dc.

Then do the 3rd side– on each of the following 3 sts- 1dc, 1dc, 1dc.

In the 3rd corner, do – 2dc ch2, 2dc.

Then, in the 4th side– on each of the 3 sts- 1dc, 1dc, 1dc.

Finally the 4th corner, do- 2dc ch2, 2dc.

At the end, join with a sl st to the top of first dc and hence complete the round 2.

  • 3rd round– As usual, start with a Ch2 (do not consider this as a stitch).

In the 1st side, on each of the sts of the last round, do –1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc.

Then, for the 1st corner,2dc ch2, 2dc.

In the 2nd side, on each of the sts do – 1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc.

2nd corner,2dc ch2, 2dc.

3rd side, on each of the sts of the last round, do (1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc).

Then complete the 3rd corner, - 2dc ch2, 2dc.

In the 4th side, on each of the sts of the last round do (1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc).

Then, in the 4th corner do (2dc ch2, 2dc).

Finally, in the remaining 2 sts of the 1st side1dc, 1dc.

Complete the round 2 by joining with a sl st to the top of first dc.

  • 4th roundCh2 (do not consider this as a stitch) –> A usual!!

In the 1st side, on each of the sts of the last round, do (1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc,1dc,1dc, 1dc).

Then in the 1st corner do (2dc ch2, 2dc).

In the 2nd side, on each of the following sts do (1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc,1dc,1dc).

Then in the 2nd corner, do (2dc ch2, 2dc).

In the 3rd side, on each of the following sts do (1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc).

In the 3rd corner do (2dc ch2, 2dc).

Do the 4th side and on each of the following sts do (1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc).

In the 4th corner do (2dc ch2, 2dc).

Finally, in the remaining 4 sts of the 1st side do (1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc).

At the end, join with a sl st to the top of first dc.

  • 5th roundCh2 (do not consider this as a stitch).

In the, 1st side, on each of the sts, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc,1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc.

Then 1st corner–  2dc ch2, 2dc.

In the 2nd side, on each of the sts- 1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc,1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc.

We will do the 2nd corner,2dc ch2, 2dc.

Then do the 3rd side– on each of the sts- 1dc,1dc,1dc,1dc,1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc.

After that, 3rd corner,2dc ch2, 2dc.

Do the 4th side, on each of the sts- 1dc,1dc, 1dc,1dc,1dc,1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc.

Then, lastly the 4th corner,2dc ch2, 2dc.

In the remaining 6 sts of the 1st side1dc, 1dc,1dc, 1dc,1dc, 1dc.

Join with a sl st to the top of first dc in order to complete the 5th round.

  • 6th RoundCh2 (do not consider this as a stitch).

1st side, on each of the sts, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc,1dc,1dc,1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc.

1st corner,2dc ch2, 2dc.

3rd corner,2dc ch2, 2dc.
